(Un)Lock It: the Percussive People in the Go-Go Pocket is an exhibition of photographs by Thomas Sayers Ellis celebrating the history of Go-Go; a unique sound very special to D.C. area locals.
Being a P.G. County-D.C. metro area native I grew up listening to this music, so I plan to visit and see the imagery capturing a genre and culture that I surely appreciate. (I'm so mad I missed the exhibition talk/event featuring Chuck Brown.) Any other DMV folk planning to check it out?
Here's a quick promo from the Godfather of Go-Go himself.

I love this picture of Beyonce shot for her album 4 promotions. Speaking of which, have you heard any songs from the new album? I have, and I really dig what she's doing. What do you think? Image via The YBF, see tons more after the jump.

Urban Outfitters collaborates with photographer Martin Parr who shot their summer lookbook in Marrakesh. I'm really diggin' the texture in these photos. See more about the feature here.

During one of my lazy afternoons thumbing through an issue of Harper's Bazaar UK I came across a series of glorious Grace Jones-inspired photographs featuring Shingai Shoniwa (from The Noisettes) as Grace Jones. The photos were taken by Txema Yeste. The one above is my favorite of the series, so fab!

Lovin' the layering of prints in these photos by Seydou Keïta. See more here. Also, check out these older Fly posts Classy Ladies and Black and White Patterns: they remind me of Keïta's style and the patterns used in these photos.

I love this beautiful series from Delphine Diallo. Each woman featured has inspired the artist in a special an personal way. They also represent the diversity and the beauty that makes up New York City. (You might recognize the woman in the bottom left photo, it's Mengly Hernandez, she's a Fly favorite.) I'm diggin' the old-style postcard graphics which gives each photo a unique vintage feel.
You're amazing, Delphine! See the entire series here.
