Throughout the month of June Fly will be highlighting amazing ladies doing fly things in media, fashion, art and design.
Who: Graphic and textile designer, Cristina Londoño.
Why you'll dig her design aesthetic:
Cristina has an incredible eye for design. With her own company, Colombia based Wallnut Studio, Cristina takes on a diverse range of projects from designing prints for lingerie brands (like Stola, below) to designing identities and packaging for a pastry shop.
Her use of colors, texture, and a lot of hand-drawn elements brings a unique flavor to each project.
A question for Cristina Londoño.
If you had to choose, what project did you love working on and why?
I really enjoyed a project developed for a textile company in Ahmedabad, India.
The project had a lot of challenges for me, I had to create a collection of prints for soft furnishings and home wear products, targeted for Indian boys and girls. The cultural differences are many, and in less than two months I had to immerse myself in the culture to try to get a grasp on Indian consumer behaviour in terms of color, shapes and graphic languages. On top of all of that, I had the difficulty of designing in Hindi characters which I don't know anything about!!! The result was better than expected, and the experience of working side by side with the printers and embroiderers to give life to the project is definitely an unforgettable experience.
