Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had some time off to relax, reflect and re-energize for all the greatness the new year brings.
It's the perfect time to try something new or start (or restart) pursuing your goals. Take a class, teach a class, buy materials for dream projects, start cooking or simply wear something you never considered before (i.e. my newly acquired vintage beaded wrap shown above).
I hear a lot of people saying that the first week is always promising but by the end of the month you already lose steam and are back to your old ways of just living. Your list of things to accomplish by year's end is lost in a pile of bills and all you want to do is sleep because you're so exhausted. It happens. Yes, sometimes life gets in the way of moving forward. But that's the beauty of being fly, we understand that, see it and work through those distractions.
So as you prepare for your year of greatness and map out your goals, which I recommend you really do, remember to make room for life. Understand that all your wants also come with challenges. Embrace those challenges. If and when they do come, learn from them and grow. Road-blocks are testers to see if you really want this or that and to see if you're truly ready for what's coming. Conquer those and you'll see the finish line is just around the bend. (Photo by Dana Williams-Johnson)
