Opera singer, Sissieretta Jones, gained major success and popularity in the late 19th century — earning her awards and special performances for politicians and dignitaries. With her soprano voice she was often compared to the famous Italian opera singer, Adelina Patti, which inspired the term and new title, Black Patti.
