Kanye West's Gold Digger.
Yes the video has the typical music video cliches but at one point it
inspired me. Frames from the footage was part of my digital mood board for a project I was working
on several years back. At the time I was working in broadcast design absorbing the
world of
graphic animation, especially anything that incorporated type in a cool way. A
colleague and I fell in love with this video (we were working
together to potentially create something similar). I was intrigued by the 50's pin-up poster references, the
styling, and of course the simple but yet fresh approach to animated
type in a rap music video.
So all that to say, I like Gold Digger, and I like the video — a lot. As much as some love to hate him, the truth is Kanye is talented and his videos are cool too. What are your thoughts?
Be inspired and check out the goods below.
Vintage inspired polka dot bathing suit; Chinese Laundry Sweet Caroline jelly flat; Black Stud earrings; Lip Stud earrings; Old-school Jet Magazine; Nars Duo Eye Shadow; Magenta Pump; Racer-back tank; Playing Card Pinups Fabric.

Loving this trend of geometric shapes inspired by "ethnic" prints and "tribal" designs. I've been seeing them a lot in black and white as well as metallics like gold and pewter.
Fronds Print Woven Shorts; Dolce Vita Raine tank (I want this!); BC Colorblock Hero Sandal; Metallic Stripe Cross-Body Bag; Nahrin Handmade Earrings; Fingerprint Kuma Pillow; No. 6 Printed Silk Slash Sleeve Top; Jemmia Sandal in Black; Autumn Adeigbo Printed Dress; Mary Meyer Squares Tote; Black and Gold Slip On (super cute!).

Just saw some amazing work by mixed media artist Paula Wilson at the Fabric Workshop and Museum. The exhibit, featuring collages and various printmaking techniques on paper and textiles, showcases the collaborative work she created with the museum. Every piece was amazing but the one pictured above took my breath away. I love it even more in person.
It's definitely worth the visit. Make an afternoon trip out of it; once you check out Paula Wilson: First Story you should vist the museum store (which is awesome), then stop by the Reading Terminal for a bangin' cheesesteak (I never get tired of those) and ice cream from Bassett (a local brand and favorite of mine). Then walk around the city to burn off those yummy calories.

Tar Beach is a beautiful story about a little girl's wishes and dreams, illustrated and written by fine artist Faith Ringgold. Ringgold uses her quilting style to create the imagery for the lovely book. Check out Ringgold's other works where she talks about social change, identity and race.

Don't you just love gorgeous shoes? Saw these on Trend Doll and was excited to share. The first shoe has just been added to my wishlist. It's so fun and I dig the red detail combined with that awesome wooden wedge heel. So superb. Check out more from Finsk.
