Over the weekend I did get to have a little movie time. On Retroplex I watched the classic film, Island in the Sun featuring Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte. With a tiny Carribean island as it's backdrop the movie covers topics of interracial relationships and racial tensions, which for 1957 was really taboo. I enjoyed the movie and I do think it's worth seeing. The styling was wonderful and the scenes were gorgeous.
Then I saw these sun-kissed photographs in the New York Times T Magazine and felt they could be slightly interpreted as updated scenes from the film. Especially the last image.
