Sage & Coombe Architects designed this wonderful reading space for kids at the New York Public Library in Fort Washington, Manhattan. When I saw these photos in I.D. Magazine I had to read on about the colorful rugs and airy space that contrasts the musty books, and dingy wood tables I remember from my childhood libraries. Can you imagine if every library or school had spaces like this? I think it would get any child excited about learning. If nothing else, it would definitely make them feel special.

Art:21 is a television series (which aired on PBS for three seasons) that features contemporary fine-artists from different backgrounds. I've seen a few programs and really enjoyed watching the artists talk about their pieces and seeing the work in progress. If you weren't able to catch the shows, the Art:21 section on the PBS website is just as good. You can see their work, interviews, and video clips from the show as well as links to more information on the artist. Visit two of my favorites, Margaret Kilgallen (whom I featured two weeks ago), and Ellen Gallagher, an amazing artist in printmaking.

Last week one of my favorite textile design studios, Hable Construction, had a wonderful sample sale. I almost missed out, but made it there just in time to snatch up a pair of really pretty pillows (one shown below). Llubav, who works at Hable, showed me around the space; I got a sneak peak of what's to come, and a look at her inspiration board (also, shown below).
It was truly a delight to chat with co-owner, Katherine, and Llubav about the different pieces that Hable is now carrying. The Cole Bag, which I loved, is perfect for a weekend getaway. The Picnic Bag, which is super cute, can be used for a picnic in the park but just as well as a handbag. I was completely surprised when Llubav told me I could choose a bag for myself as a little gift for featuring the studio. I was shocked and very excited!! It took me a long time to choose, but I selected the brightly colored El Hombre. It's perfect to carry your personal items along with a magazine and/or book, it also has deep side pockets for your water bottle and other goodies. Love it!!

This jewelry collection by Passementerie, is simply gorgeous. Each piece by designer, Courtney (who's only 23), just oozes romance and femininity.

For those of you who may not know, Ms. Sylvia, is the woman behind the magic at fashion blog, I Like Her Style!. I discovered her blog last summer and was truly impressed with her writing and content. Be inspired and meet Sylvia.
Who are you? Sylvia, 26
Where? I live in D.C. but I'm originally from London, UK. I'm here for grad school.
What? Currently I'm in school studying Media & Public Affairs, but would love to work in the editorial department of a magazine or for a fashion PR firm. We'll see where life takes me!
What inspires you? I'm a creative person and love anything that stimulates me visually. I'm inspired by people who dress and carry themselves well, beautiful art, breath-taking architecture and so on. I'm also inspired by people who don't care what others think. Having your own mind is so important.
Why are you fly? I'm fly because I go for what I want even if what I want seems impossible. If you can't get in through the front door, sneak in through the back!
Advice: I'd advise all young women to respect themselves no matter what and to carry themselves with dignity. And when it comes to fashion? Ignore all the rules. The best outfits are formed organically!

I'm really digging the work of Richard Zalenski. I wish I had my camera with me when I saw his portraits featured in the display windows at Macy's, seeing them altogether was amazing. See more of his work here.

I came across this cute little boutique the other day and had to share. Super Deluxe made a smash hit with their monogrammed dishes and stationery, but everything I saw in their lovely boutique is noteworthy. Check out their site to see their pieces. Meanwhile take a look at their boutique space, even the bathroom is super cute.
