I saw these amazing quilts at the Whitney Museum a few years ago. It was an exhibition about the women of Gee's Bend, Alabama who traditionally made quilts out of any fabric they could find. Because they made so little money to buy fabric at stores they created a unique style using any leftover fabric scraps (jeans, old t-shirts, etc) to create these divine pieces. I built this color palette based on some of their quilts. Also, here's a great site to learn more.
