There's something magnificently intriguing about singer/model/actress Grace Jones and something almost as marvelous about the cover art for her albums. I'm absolutely in love with them.
I just purchased the vinyl version of Portfolio, her disco-y debut album from 1977 (front pictured below left, and the back pictured above). I plan on framing the front and back separately, meaning I'll have to cut the album cover into two pieces (with sad hesitation).
Although Ms. Jones has been a muse to some of the great artists, designers, and photographers of our time, she alone is art. Her strikingly beautiful features, dynamic personality and incredible body create captivating compositions; with color, collage and type she becomes a specimen of design.
This weekend, if you're browsing around online check out the music from her many albums, and her music videos. Her sound is weird, cool and clubby; and the videos are weirdly animated and artsy. It's really cool inspiration for animation, color and design.
What about you, any creative projects you have planned for the weekend?
Have a fabulously creative weekend :).
