Fly is undergoing some changes and updates with new features and content but the one thing that won't be included in those updates is the Fly Girl of the Week feature. So to honor one of my favorite features that made Fly what it is today I'd like to share some fabulous final Fly Girls of the Week :). Enjoy!
Who? Phylicia, better known as pRoy, 26
Where? Originally from Chapel Hill, NC, but I currently reside in St. Paul, MN
What do you do? I'm an educator by trade and a life coach by nature. I am also a natural hair advocate and am making my way into styling (fashion). I independently own and operate the blog Steel Feather Lace Elephant, an inspirational blog that targets those who long to embrace and incorporate creativity, optimism and diversity into their ever-evolving lifestyles. It covers topics such as hair care, fashion, financial tips, fitness, finding yourself and beyond.
What inspires you? I am inspired by life in general. There is no one thing that inspires me. Nature, music, food, colors, traveling to diverse cities/countries, cultures, fashion - anything can fuel my spirit and inspire me to do better, be better, and live better. Having an open mind aids in the inspiration process.
Why are you fly? I am fly because I won’t let my spirit be caged. Regardless of what situation I am facing at the moment (if hate it or love it) I remain true to myself. It took years to finally listen to my God given intuition in regards to me and my dealings with self, and I have vowed to never lose my voice of reason again. My family refers to me as a free bird because I enjoy life to the fullest.
Advice: Never be afraid to make a future for yourself. You are the only person who can live your life, so why not live it up and make it the best life you’ve ever experienced? Don’t let people, places, or things hold you back from receiving what is yours in life, what you know you should have, and where you know you can be. What God has for you is for you and we know that we can do ALL things through Him. Trust in Him, believe in His word, and obey His calling.
