June is Black Music Month and every Friday this month I will be giving shout outs to fly ladies of hip hop with an illustration. Today we celebrate Salt-N-Pepa. This duo (plus Spinderella) gave us fun party hits and classic fly girl power songs that got us talking about female independence and self-expression.
I love the classics like Push It, Everybody Get Up, and Expression; these were all awesome. But because I'm from the D.C. area I have to say one of my favorite Salt-N-Pepa songs is Shake Your Thang, featuring go-go star E.U. What's your favorite Salt-N-Pepa song? Illustration by Andrea Pippins.
